What If... Women Ruled the World?

What If... Women Ruled the World?

25 minute documentary: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0155cfg

Studies also show that women also lead differently than men. They're more likely to be collaborative, inclusive and team-oriented, all characteristics that tend to be effective, particularly in today's less-hierarchical, fast-paced, innovation-driven world.

Last year, women were responsible for $20tn (£13.3tn) in spending, and by 2014, that number is expected to increase to $28tn (£18.6tn). And when women have more cash, they spend it differently. They feed their families healthier diets and send their children to school. They invest in clean water, better schools, education and health care. They start businesses and hire other women. The entire community prospers.

When women are at the table, they help bridge the gap between different groups and ensure that a broader range of issues, from food security to sexual violence, are addressed. As a result, peace is more likely to take root.

So empowering women isn't about political correctness, it's about improving outcomes. It's about investing in stronger economies and healthier communities - it's about ending conflicts, and sustaining peace. It's about improving the quality of life for people all over the world.

****POSITIVE EDUCATION leads to POSITIVE ACTION****

****POSITIVE EDUCATION leads to POSITIVE ACTION****

Maharaj kirpa our aim is to #InspireASister to engage our sisters in dialogue rather than make them afraid or feel ashamed of their identity as a woman. We, with your support are here to motivate, uplift and inspire through positive articles, educated and evidence based awareness, talks based on Sikh women and our spiritual power as women.

Furthermore, with the increasing prevalence of a 'bedroom culture' we, with your support would like to use social networking as a source of inspiration so our sisters are not infected with the evils of grooming. Please use social media in a positive way by sharing sakhia, katha links, videos, articles etc specifically about women and ways we can connect to Vaheguru.

Inspire and make your sisters feel so valued, so loved that they will not fall into the arms of evils such as grooming, bullying, sexual exploitation etc.

Kaurageous Leicester are not experts in the field of grooming, sexual exploitation etc so we urge you, in whatever way you can, to support organisations such as Sikh Awareness Society, Sikh Helpline and Kaur-Nect. Use the momentum for positive awareness raising, donating dasvand or offering your specialisms and time.

Furthermore, due to our lack of expertise in this field Kaurageous has contacted organisations such as NSPCC, Barnardos etc who are specialists. Accordingly, resources such as leaflets, brochures and PowerPoints for Gurdwarae and youth groups have been uploaded to

Please share these leaflets about grooming, abuse, sexual abuse, internet safety- which highlight key signs and prevention. Many of our parents are unaware of the dangers of the internet so please find in this folder a PUNJABI LEAFLET explaining e-safety.

Let's continue to be the foot soldiers of Dhan Guru Nanak and spread his teachings and light.

Please forgive all of our shortcomings and advise us on how to do and be better.

Beautiful letter to Maharaj............

An anon wrote this beautiful letter to Maharaj, and someone shared it by reading it out in Sangat.
It was just so beautiful man, so I wrote it down:

"Fill me with your loving silence dear beloved.
Please quell all these noises within me.
I yearn that serene solitude, when it is just you and the soul.
I can sing, laugh, cry to my hearts content, without anyone pointing out my craziness.
Maybe I am crazy, I don't know.
But I know I yearn that silence you instil in me.
That silence is so deep, so soothing.
At times, it is like you have held me in such a warm embrace.
At other times, it feels as if the silence has filled me with a strange electrical energy, but still so calming and love filled.
All I yearn so longingly, is to listen to the mesmerising rhythmic silence within, which makes you feel so close and dearly, dearly beloved to me.
Will a time come when all I can hear is your closeness?
When all I can hear is your holy breath, interspersed, combined in mine?
Where all these worldly noises can just wash over me and leave me free.
Please immerse me in silence beloved, so all I can hear is you'
