Sikh Council UK – Political Engagement Programme
 
The Sikh Council UK are pleased to announce the launch of our:
‘Political Engagement Programme’
 
The programme aims to develop future British Sikh politicians and political activists through collaboration with the major political parties.  Our first event will be hosted by the Conservative Party (June 6th 2013), with subsequent events planned with Labour (Summer 2013) and the Liberal Democrats (TBC)
 
Conservative Party 6th June 2013 (2pm to 7.30pm)
 
Our first event will be hosted by the Conservative Party:
  • Conservative Party HQ: meet senior party figures and party officials.  Learn about the Conservative Party, what they are doing to attract Sikh candidates and how you can get involved.  This session will include an open Q&A.
  • Palace of Westminster tour:  enjoy a tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
  • Q&A with Member of Parliament: learn more about the life of an MP and what it takes to enter politics.

Application
We are looking for future British Sikh politicians and political activists.  We expect all participants to be highly capable with a record of having excelled in their chosen profession.  We also expect all candidates to have a developed understanding of Sikhism, its principle and history.  Your personal conduct should be in-line with Sikh teachings.
 If you fit our criteria and would like to apply for the 6 June 2013 event please complete an application form and submit it by 17 May 2013.

 Applicants are invited from across the community; there are no requirements such as being Amritdhari or being a member of a political party etc.
